New In The Stew

Had to upload the video from the rehersal as they would not allow video camera's into the big show! She was the star of the whole show!!!

Daddy fall down and go Boom!  Mommy Laugh at Daddy...

A long time ago, Ali and I said we didn't want our kids singing immoral "normal" songs you hear on the radio every day.  By immoral I am talking about the regular garbage you hear in music about sexual conquests, violence and just flat out disregard for human kind.

 I will be the first to admit that from my original perspective I had this goal mainly because I can't stand certain kinds of garbage "bubble-gum" and gangsta rap melodies that pass for entertainment these days.  In the past 2 years however it has become much more than that.  (I must say it has always been more than that for Alicia, she is obviously much more advanced than me!!!)

I have a deep desire for music and listening/sharing quality music from artists of all genre's.  If you know me, you know this is true.  You will almost always hear me listening to both Christian and Secular music of all types to find new artists that I enjoy, and I will always be willing to share what I find with you and anyone else that so desires to hear new music.  However, I have recently become outright distusted by certain vulgar content that is played all over the airwaves in our society.  I don't think I need to leave any examples, you all know what I am talking about.

Long story breaking to a short conclusion... Alicia was driving to work this morning with the normal sounds of Elmo and Care Bears coming from the back with the kids and her 91.9 playing in the from to help her sanity!  She turned the radio down to hear what Sydney was saying only to find out she was singing.  Sydney very promptly called out to Alicia and said "Mommy! Turn that back up I was singing that song!!!"

What was the song you ask?  "Blessed be the name of the Lord"  by Tree63.  We are so very proud!  Now if I could only get her to humm some Wish You Were Here or Momentary Lapse...

A good friend once told me that he married up in life and was a lucky man.  I took that to heart as I feel the same way about my marriage.  Ali, you are way up the food chain baby and I love you!

Recently, I discovered that Sawyer rather enjoys Quacking like a duck. During a recent reading of the wonderful Novel "Dooby Dooby Moo", Sawyer was wiggling around like a worm as usual. When the page of this Novel turned to Duck, Daddy started quacking feverishly and Sawyer sat still! He then mimicked me and quacked for a good 30 minutes, but sat still the whole time. Now everytime hs gets upset about something, I can start Quacking and he calms down and Quacks to forget what he is upset about! Just thought I would share my random thoughts.(/p>)

Easter has come and past here just as with everyone else.  The kids enjoyed a great holiday with Mom and Dad and learned alot.  Sydney proved again like she does almost everyday that she is a knowledge sponge!  After church, Alicia asked her what she learned in Sunday school and she proceeded to give us an incredibly detailed description of Jesus and what Easter really was all about.  She was even first to say that the Easter Bunny is not what Easter is about!  We are so proud!

Sawyer was struck with the Rota virus before Easter and was sick for over a week.  The usually hungry and ever wiggling boy was reduced to a very slow moving, liquifying baby boy that somehow kept a smile on his face at ALL TIMES.  This little guy is the toughest, most resilient little man we have ever known.  He lost over 5 lbs during the process but is rapidly getting back to his fighting weight.  He ate his body weight in food every day since!

Finally, Sawyer is now an official member of the Magicians and Escape Artists Union.  He can escape from almost any confinement he is put in these days.  Cribs, doors and gates are no match for the dude.  I think he has some Houdini in him somewhere.  Alicia and I have come to the conclusion that he needs to get a big boy bed and move out of the crib ASAP since he is not on board with the "Prison Life" of a crib anymore.

Oh how I could babble on forever, but I need to get back to work now.  I will update this more frequently now, I promise!

It doesn't get much more cute than this!  Such a strapping young man!

'Twas the night before the Super Bowl, when along the gulf shore,
Steelers fans were praying for "just one more;"
The players were nestled all snug in the sack,
With visions of the first NFL Six-Pack;
Coach Tomlin was young, but wise for his years,
So I drifted off to sleep without any fears;
When at the stadium there arose some strange chatter,
The Cardinals feared, what was the matter;
We heard "Okel Dokel", we heard "Double Yoi,"
We jumped from our beds, our hearts jumped for joy;
He stood at the fifty with a grin ear to ear,
Steelers fans everywhere started to cheer;
Then in an instant to our surprise,
This little old man had tears in his eyes;
He went to the booth and there took his chair,
While Terrible Towels waved in the air;
Then over the airwaves came his shrill voice,
The Steelers Nation began to rejoice;
He said, "I am back, but you know I can't stay,
I just had to see my Steelers play;
From my home up above, I have a great view,
But I wanted to celebrate here with you;
So bring on the Birds, we'll send them a flyin',
On the way back to Phoenix, they will be cryin';
Ben, Hines, Troy, Jeff and all of the rest,
No matter the outcome, to me you're the best;"
The airwaves went silent, the stadium still,
Was this just a dream, it seemed so real;
In our team we have faith, in our team we have hope,
But the game's not the same without Myron Cope;

This evening Sydney was finger painting at the kitchen table while I was cooking dinner.  Ok, get your breathe back from that statement, yes I cook dinner... Not well, but I do the best I can.

We were quickly reminded of how smart little kids were and how much they really do pay attention.  Ali asked her what she was painting and Sydney replied, "A Lizzard".  With all animals and toys Sydney gives them names she makes up from that crazy little mind of hers.  For example, yesterday she painted an 8 legged purple pig named Lyla the Segorgia.  If you ask her at any time she will remember the exact name and pronunciation of Lyla the Segorgia.

Anyways, you have the Lizard part, now time for the Apple and the Tree.  They say the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.  In this case it is a stretch but it made for a snappy title so I worked it in.  If you know me well enough you know my political views since well, lets be honet now, I don't know how to shutup.  Apparently Sydney shares my political views.

So long story short, Ali asked Sydney what the name of the Lizard she just painted was.  Sydney replied without hesitation "A Rock Obama".  Of course this stopped us both in our tracks.  We obviously asked her to repeat herself and she again stated "A Rock Obama".

Ali proceeded to ask Sydney "Did you just say Barack Obama"?  To which Sydney replied, and I quote... "Um Yes, A Rock Obama, of the people.  The President".

Wow.  I can't top that.  Now you have the Apple, The Tree, The Lizard and A Rock Obama.
